VanderWall congratulates Cadillac on $800,000 community development grant

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Curt VanderWall on Thursday applauded the city of Cadillac for being awarded funds for the removal of blight at a downtown site.

The Michigan Strategic Fund awarded $831,864 in Community Development Block Grant funds to Cadillac for the demolition of two buildings, site restoration and removal of buried debris.

“This money will revitalize this site and improve the quality of life for those in the area,” said VanderWall, R-Ludington. “Once the blighted conditions are removed from the property, the city expects this project could result in future private investment of up to $8.2 million.”

The MSF, in cooperation with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, administers the economic and community development portions of the CDBG program. CDBG is a federal grant program utilizing funds received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
